This work focuses on the last three centuries of Spanish history, from the 18th Century under the new dynasty led by Philip V to the transitional period towards democracy after Franco. It also provides an overview of the rule of Charles III, the Age of Enlightenment, the famous thesis of Count Floridablanca, the Esquilache Riots, May of 1808, the War of Independence, the War of Spanish Succession, the Carlist Wars, and the independence of the American colonies. With the beginning of the 19th Century, the book examines the rule of Isabel II, the creation of a Liberal state, the Restoration, the dictatorship of Primo de Rivera, the 2nd Republic, the Civil War, and the Franquist dictatorship. This book ends with the signing of the Spanish Constitution of 1978 and the creation of a new model of democracy for the country.
