Author Biography

MacArthur Fellow Angela Johnson is the prolific and award-winning author of several books for children, including Toning the Sweep, which was a Coretta Scott King Award winner, a School Library Journal Best Book, and a Booklist Editor's Choice. Her first novel for Simon and Schuster, Heaven, was also a recipient of the Coretta Scott King Award. Her poetry collection, The Other Side, and her picture book, When I Am Old with You, have both received Coretta Scott King honors. Her most recent additions to the Simon and Schuster list are I Dream of Trains and Just Like Josh Gibson.
