Summary

This book is divided into six general sections: dry sun, shade, acid soils, chalk soils, clay soils and moisture-loving plants. Each section is organized alphabetically and includes all trees, shrubs, herbaceous perennials and climbers that will thrive under a unique set of conditions. Each individual entry includes an identifying color photograph, a description of the plant, instructions for planting and cultivation, and advice on propagation, pests, and diseases. Each chapter ends with an additional list of plants that will grow successfully under a given set of conditions, and, where relevant, provides useful information on bulbs and roses.
