In this volume of original papers, the editors have assembled the work of some of the most eminent experts in cognitive psychology, neuroscience, and neuropsychology with the goal of integrating the diverse and growing body of research emerging in these diverse fields. The need for such a synthesis is clear. Today, neuronal events are being described with increasing precision, while our understanding of the neuroanatomy of the central nervous system has grown tremendously. We have also learned a great deal about how neurons communicate with one another, and the dynamic neurochemical and neurophysiological processes involved in information processing.
