John J. (Jack) Schmidt, Ed.D., is professor emeritus of Counselor Education at East Carolina University. He is the author or coauthor of more than a dozen books, including Making and Keeping Friends: Ready-to-Use Lessons, Stories, and Activities for Building Relationships.
